Delays in Eurotunnel freight services
Eurotunnel has suspended its truck shuttle services because of the protest of Maritime Nord Union against the transfer of Eurotunnel’s MyFerryLink vessels to DFDS. MyFerryLink advises to make alternative arrangements and as there are no indications when the services will be resumed and backlog cleared. Port of Calais was also affected by Union’s protests with workers blocking access to berths.
Apart from the industrial conflict the situation is further complicated by the current refugee crisis and subsequent security measures. As a result there are very significant queues on both sides of the tunnel and these are unlikely to be cleared anytime soon.
At Hawthorn Logistics we will ensure that we do not use any freight service (including airlines & trucking companies) that requires transfer via Eurotunnel. We will monitor the situation as it unfolds and advise accordingly.
